چکیده

Managing nutrients in recirculating solutions can be challenging hydroponic production, and poor management practices rapidly result root zone nutrient imbalances reduced yield. Using mass balance principles to formulate replenishment is a proposed strategy reduce the need periodically replace solution. Objectives were (1) species-specific for arugula (Eruca sativa L.) basil (Ocimum basilicum using (2) evaluate effects of these on plant growth over time. In first experiment, tissues analyzed 42 d macronutrient concentrations which used custom both species. second resupplied time either or standard commercial Species-specific resulted decreased solution EC most macronutrients contrast, with increased calcium, magnesium, sulfate nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium. Replenishment treatment had no effect yield basil; however, results suggested may have still occurred eventually treatments would effective scenarios where could formulated specific crop, mixed high-quality irrigation water, environmental conditions are controlled stable, such as indoor farming systems. This study highlighted several practical challenges considerations regarding formulation balance.

Plant growth promoting bacteria effects on growth, photosynthetic pigments and root nutrients uptake of Avena sativa L. under drought stress

Drought stress is one of the most important factors affecting plant growth. Plant growth under drought stress may be enhanced by the application of microbial inoculation including plant growth promoting rhizobacteria. This research was conducted as a factorial experiment in a completely randomized design. The first factor included the bio-fertilizer (A. vinelandii (A)), P. agglomerans+ P. ...

Chicoric acid found in basil (Ocimum basilicum L.) leaves

This is the first report to identify the presence of chicoric acid (cichoric acid; also known as dicaffeoyltartaric acid, which is a caffeic acid derivatizedwith tartaric acid) in basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid, chicoric acid and caftaric acid (in the order of most abundant to least; all derivatives of caffeic acid) were identified in fresh basil leaves. Rosmarinic acid was themain phenolic comp...

Effects of nitrogen fertilization on the phenolic composition and antioxidant properties of basil (Ocimum basilicum L.).

Many herbs and spices have been shown to contain high levels of polyphenolic compounds with potent antioxidant properties. In the present study, we explore how nutrient availability, specifically nitrogen fertilization, affects the production of polyphenolic compounds in three cultivars (Dark Opal, Genovese, and Sweet Thai) of the culinary herb, basil ( Ocimum basilicum L.). Nitrogen fertilizat...
